PROFILE | Synopsis

Matanna Katz has been the Art Director and Set Stylist for the Expresso Show on SABC 3 from 2012 to 2015.  


She held responsibilities in appearing live on the Expresso Show weekly and behind the scenes exhibiting and executing lifestyle content consisting of table settings, prop and food styling, DIY craft projects, and interior inspiration.  In addition, she was responsible for furnishing the Expresso studio sets, prop and set styling for the Expresso Show and Top Billing on SABC 3, and creating table settings for the Afternoon Express Show on SABC 3.  She also rebranded the social media platforms of Bob and Bella, the Expresso Show's French Bulldog mascots.


In 2015 she took on personal professional ventures to be the Art Director and Prop/Set Stylist for Emme Jeans, an authentic South African denim jeans company, and was the Prop Stylist for Chef and Food Stylist Zola Nene's first cookbook "Simply Delicious", published by Penguin Random House South Africa.

She worked and lived in New York City from December 2015 to May 2016 where she assisted Sunday Suppers, a food and community driven business based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  Over and above that, she also created digital content for her social media clients such as PICHULIK and Fairview Wine and Cheese.

In June 2016 she co-founded her own company "Ethereal Bound Journal" with her business partner Liese Kuhn.  As Visual Storytellers they specialise in creating visual digital content for businesses and brand's social media platforms in the form of photography and film.

In October 2016 she was a top three finalist for South Africa's first Master Florist competition.  During that time, she also created a recipe, food and prop themed photographic story in collaboration with Youtuber, Chef and Food Stylist Claire Winstanley from "Good Looking and Cooking", for Elle Decoration's "Wine and Dine Special" magazine.  One of those images made the front cover which can be viewed here : https://www.etherealboundjournal.com/elle-decoration

In September and October 2017, Matanna was featured in the "Fresh Cut" show with Jill Manson and the "DIY Made Easy" show sponsored by Builder's Warehouse on The Home Channel South Africa, featuring entertaining ideas, decor inspiration and floral styling.  During that time she also worked with Bonfire Media to create a table setting and floral arrangements for the Macallan Whiskey Master of Style Event with one of South Africa's foremost fashion voices and entrepreneur Siyabonga Beyile.
